Xiamen to launch 72-hr visa-free transit policy on April 1

Xiamen (at Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport) is scheduled to introduce a 72-hour visa-free transit policy on 1st April.


Channel 2 at the T3 terminal of Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport will be used as a specialized channel for the 72-hour visa-free service. The Exit and Entry Administration of the Xiamen Municipal Public Security Bureau plans to open a window for 72-hour visa-free transit application and a 24-hour hotline for the service - a consultancy service will also be set up.

The person seeking the new visa should hold a valid international travel certificate and an interline ticket to a third country (region) with a confirmed date and seat that will depart within 72 hours.

In order to facilitate the international visitors’ short stay in China, the 72-hour visa-free transit policy is being carried out in more and more cities. At present, eleven Chinese cities have adopted this policy. This policy allows transit passengers with a passport from 51 different countries to stay for up to 72 hours without a visa during transit to their destination country.

Chinese cities with the policy:

Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Shenyang, Dalian, Xi'an, Guilin, Kunming and Hangzhou

According to the regulations of the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China, foreign visitors who meet all the following requirements can apply for the visa-free transit allowance:


1. Holding passports issued by 51 qualified countries.

2. Holding valid international travel documents.

3. Qualify for the entry requirements of their destination country.

4. Holding valid airline tickets with 72-hour validation and making transit through the Xiamen airport to the destination country.

Qualified countries (51 countries):

24 Schengen Agreement Countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland

13 Other European Countries: Russia, the United Kingdom, Iceland, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia (FYROM), Albania

6 American Countries: the United States of America, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Chile

2 Oceania Countries: Australia, New Zealand

6 Asian Countries: Korea, Japan, Singapore, Brunei, United Arab Emirates, Qatar

All foreigners must obtain an entry visa before proceeding to China. Exhibitors are strongly recommended to process the application three months before departure from the country of origin.

The organizing committee of Xiamen Tea Fair provides the visa Invitations for exhibitors and trade visitors free of charge.
